                    Hi
Just need to have a little rant. Picked up my new specs from spec savers today (2nd time lucky as they chipped the glass in the previous pair). Got them fitted and then wore them whilst driving home and realised all was not right. Then when I got home I noticed that the arms had been shorten by simply cutting off the end! (I'm very short sighted so didn't see what they had done at the time
)
Anyway carried on wearing them for the rest of the morning but everything was blurry. So I phoned to get a re-test and it turns out prescription was complelety wrong
Now I needed a new pair like yesterday so had no option but to go to Vision Express and had to shell out another £300. I did get a full refund from SS after a lot of faffing.
I'm really annoyed they got the prescription wrong in the first place, then broke the first pair which were ordered 4 weeks ago and then made a complete bulls up with the fitting. This has wasted so much of my time and I'm now out of pocket as I've had to go else where.
Shall I make a complaint and ask for compension or just put this down to learning from experience.
I must say that I'm impressed with VE (not their prices though!!)

My mum had a similar problem with Specsavers a few years back. She took them back and the young lad told her that there was nothing wrong with the glasses, and if she thought there was something wrong then she needed her eyes testing! She said "Duh, that's why I came here in the first place!"
Anyway, its turns out that they are mainly franchises, which caused a few problems. I think she wrote to the franchise licenser in the end and they gave compensation.

How are you out of pocket if you got a full refund.
Write a letter of complaint by all means, it may mean that they up the training at SS shop.
I have to say Ive used SS for years, have always had brilliant service and I have to have
special lenses, and varifocals, thin etc,. never had a problem.
Mind I always make a point of going to the 'older' assistants sorry, no offence.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Which is correct but did you give them a chance to sort out your problem ?
Why the rush to V.E. ?
Always been happy with Spec Savers , maybe its because I think before acting.0 -
yep used them before and had no problems, its just that I need new specs in a hurry and they've caused delays. I need a new pair by Friday so have had to go else where and pay premium so they are ready in time (hence now out of pocket)0

I need new specs by Friday and SS cannot turn around a new pair in this time. They told me that they couldn't so had no choice but to go to VE who could guarantee they'd be ready.0 -
You didnt really have to pay a premium, you could have chosen glasses for the same price as those from SS
There are thousands of them in VE
I think you would be better just moving on and shopping with your feet next time, if you feel that way about SS, stay away from them in the future.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

I got sold an insulting Old Ladies Prescription of 2 separate glasses, one for distance and one for reading. ( I prefer all in ones for convenience and style) at Clacton on Sea. Never again!#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.
Reading whatever books I want to the rescue!:money::beer[/B

I can only praise SS for speedy turn round on 2 orders. 3 eye tests performed well and the last Optician observed how small print was getting harder to read through. (suggested ways round until intervention is required)
They are not pushy on making a sale if only a minor change in prescription. They checked the fitting once back. (unlike another chain where just thrown them and they were too loose and an independent store wouldn't give my prescription so I had to make a complaint)
I'd recommend them.0 -

Why didn't you ask for these then? They cost more, Specsavers would have been very happy to sell you them.0
