Tumble drier cutting out after 5mins

I have a Hotpoint Aquarius condensing tumble drier which has started to cut out after about 5 mins on high heat.
During the drying operation the drier periodically(before it cuts out) it has a very slight stumble during the cycle but keeps going. If I wait a short while the drier will start up again, but again will cut out after 5 mins or so.
It works fine if I reduced the heat setting to low and will continue to run for much longer without cutting out.
Any thoughts and easy fixes would be gratefully received, but am I missing something?
BTW, the door filter and water trap container are cleaned & emptied before loading, and the rear vents are free from fluff build up.

I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not sure!

Have you got the right fuse in the plug? And have you added any other high-usage items onto the same loop?
I have no technical knowledge but know that our dryer here is was only a 6 amp 'loop' so we had to move it to a 15 or 30 amp one instead."No matter how little money and how few possesions you own, having a dog makes you rich." - Louis Sabin0 -

Thanks Georgina, the fuse is OK, I suspect that it may be a thermal cut out of some description in the dryer, the dryer works fine on low heat setting, it's only when using the high heat setting that the problem occurs.I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not sure!0 -
No problem!
Thermal cut-outs are way out of my league! I just use the thing! They're a life-saver, negates the need to ever iron anything IMO!

Is there a filter that needs cleaning?
Is it correctly vented?
It sounds as though it's overheating in some way ...Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac

I have checked all the filters, all the vents are free from obstruction. It only seems to be problematic on high heat, I think it's getting to the point of calling the man/woman from hotpoint.I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not sure!0

You will need to call a man.
Women break them....men fix them !! lol
This is a known fact...as I've been told numerous times that I don't know how to use any of the appliances !! but I'm the first line of attack when the bloomin things go wrong !!If only everything in life was as reliable...AS ME !!

Called out man from hotpoint, coming Monday.
By the way, nice smilies Plumb1I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not sure!0 -
It may be worth checking the brushes in the motors, as when they get worn down and hot they will intermittently stop working and cut out. You would need to check the main motor brushes and also the brushes in the fan motor that blows the hot air in to the drum.
Just a thought but if mender man is coming now probably best to let him have a look.0
