Car Insurance - Temporary Cover for additional young driver?

Hi,
I'm the main driver for my car insurance policy. I wish to add my 20-year old daughter as an additional driver for the short periods of time she is at home and is able to make use of the car (most of the year she is away at university). She has had a full driving license for 3 years.
My current insurer (Swift) won't let me add her as a temporary driver as she is under 25. However, they will let me add her as a permanent driver and then remove her from the policy again when she goes back to uni. Unfortunately, this means paying the premium upfront for the rest of the policy period (often hundreds of pounds, which I can't afford) and then waiting weeks for a refund once I remove her.
Therefore, could anyone recommend an insurance company that allows you to add a young driver onto your policy for short periods?
Thanks,
Ken

One of my mates insured himself for 2 weeks on his mums car. Shes insured with Post Office. He paid them £58 for two weeks to use the car to attend university interviews; he had to show some of his work/creations.
However to be honest Post Office dont always turn out to be the cheapest on the initial primium.0 -

As my 18-year-old son has just gone away to University I recently asked the same question at local broker Higos, who signed me up with Ageas (formerly known as Fortis). My son is omitted from the policy. Each time he comes home and needs to drive, I need to contact Higos and sign him up as a Temporary Additional Driver; the cost each time will be £1.06 per day for a minimum of 10 days (minimum £10.60) plus £25 administrative fee to Higos. The total period of such temporary cover is limited to 3 months in an insurance year.
Ageas only sell policies through brokers. Higos are good but if you don't live in South West England look up the list of brokers on the Ageas site.0 -
Admiral.
Despite my ongoing wrangles with them this is something that worked out quite well.
I wanted to add my 17 year old son to my policy for the last couple of months it had to run. It was too expensive to add him as a named driver but the guy on customer services suggested adding him as a temporary driver for £25 a week which saved a fair amount.
Shame they insisted he became the main driver on renewal otherwise I would have stayed with them.Mr Straw described whiplash as "not so much an injury, more a profitable invention of the human imagination—undiagnosable except by third-rate doctors in the pay of the claims management companies or personal injury lawyers"0
