Selling charity cards on Ebay

I have bought a job lot of cards from an auction, and was going to sell on Ebay, but they are all produced for charity.

On the back it says "These cards have been produced and sold by xxxx charity and all profits are covenanted to xxxx"

Can I sell them, and has the charity already been paid for them ?

Edit : Decided to sell them and give a percentage to the charity on the cards, but when I do this, the Ebay rules state that I have to donate a minimum of £1 if my item sells. Is this per item in addition to the percentage I have agreed to donate ?
You're only young once, but you can be immature forever :D

  • I do not think you will have any come back selling them as you bought the right of ownership in the auction. However, cards are one of the hardest lines to sell on ebay. Work out your listing/selling and postage costs first and how you are going to sell them. I would think of local boot sales or personal friends to sell to. I bought a card shop out 3 years ago and the storage costs are now more than I sold. Be very careful. But good luck
  • Big lots may be the way. I have sold cards on ebay (came from auction lot). As I got 250 packs for £16 wasn't an issue but they sold slowly until I did 5 packs for £10 post free (or similar).

Doubt I made £150 in total which for 70 odd sales was awful.

Didnt sell them to my mate on Ebay did you? :T

He bought several boxes of mixed cards and by the time he had sorted a few boxes out and bought racks to display them on the market appeared to get flooded with cheap cards.

He thought £1 each or 2 for a £, But the carboots started doing 7 or 12 for a £.

He couldnt compete & took a big loss. By the time he flogged the cards and displays the market was full of them.

  • NO, the stock I bought were quite expensive cards and really good quality but a nightmare to sell. I tried packs on ebay and had sales but I can never get my money back. Worst buy ever and the second worst was 2000 video tapes, which I still have half of them as well. I think 6/7 for a £ sounds about right. The envelopes have now become stuck together so I only have cards without now.Live and learn.

Ah the joys of auctions. Against my better judgement I bought 3 tea chests of books for £3- took ages to transport them all home and only abaout 10 saleable books in all of them. So all back into the car and several more trips to the local Oxfam book dump.

I don't think I have sold any of the 10 I did keep either. :(

You win some you lose some. I bought a box of books for £8 as there was one I fancied reading and a couple that looked interesting. Went to pick up at the end of the auction and found out there were in fact 8 boxes!

Been reading them for about a year. Started to sell a few this week. So far

    £96, £36 and £17 for the 1st 3. One I haven't listed as I haven't read it yet is £150-200 on amazon so hopeful

    They do smell though!

  • Pop them in a large sealed bag or container with a tub of bicarb?

Removed a burnt smell from my microwave a treat.
