As no one has answered your question yet, I'll just give you the benefit of my limited experience (which may not be the best advice).
Firstly disconnect from the mains and remove the battery if you haven't already done so, then let the laptop dry out naturally in a warm place for a day or so and see if the touchpad starts working again. If it does then problem solved. If there's no sign of life at all then the circuitry may be damaged. If the touchpad does show signs of life but is not functioning properly, it may need cleaning.
When I spilt Southern Comfort into my laptop and the keys became sticky, I poured a reasonable amount of Isopropyl alcohol into it and swilled it around - the idea being to remove any deposits of coffee without damaging the circuitry. Drain then leave to dry. I think you can get Isopropyl Alcohol from Maplin, or failing that several people sell it on ebay.
As I said, this may not be good advice and although it worked for my keyboard it may not work for the touchpad."The trouble with quotations on the Internet is that you never know whether they are genuine" - Charles Dickens0 -
Mains out, let it dry - maybe use a hair drier sparingly (dont melt your keyboard). When its all dry then try and see if it works. Other than that I would take it apart and clean it - but only if you know what u are doing.0

If the Laptop is still under warranty then do not open it up. You will void the warranty. If yu have contents insurance, then if not working, claim off that.Never Knowingly Understood.

Some previous posts have suggested putting in a box with some uncooked rice, apparently it absorbs moisture rather well. And leaving in a warm place for a couple of days
I think there will be problems if the coffee had milk and sugar in it, water / liquid will dry out but it will leave a residue
What a waste of Southern Comfort Hungedunger
Good luck0 -
