There is a thread about this in the "Flights Currency & Car Hire" section but I thought it should be here as well. Appologies if this is not the correct way to do things..
I have received a similar notification.
I have a FlexAccount and a Gold Card which I've held since the time when Nationwide didn't charge for transactions abroad. the Gold Card is pre Feb 2011 and expires 12/12. Should I try to resist this Platinum Card and hold onto my Gold Card?
The text of the letter is below.
I've just found out that Nationwide are moving me to a Platinum 'Select' Credit Card. Apparently this now means that I'll get 0% load worldwide instead of the 1% I get at the moment. (also gives 0.5% cashback)
This is brilliant as I hadn't heard of this from anyone else and I'm going to Florida next month so perfect timing I thought.
Then I find out that they won't be chaging the card over till my payment due date NEXT month and then they will send my card out after that...... The Day after I go on Holiday!!! Arrgghhhhhhhh

Dear Mr dggar,
Credit card number: wwwwxxxxyyyyzzzzImportant information about your credit card
We're delighted to let you know that as you have your main current account with us* we're upgrading your credit card to a new Visa platinum card called Nationwide Select. Your new card gives you exclusive benefits, all with no monthly fee. You don't have to do anything to receive this card, we'll automatically send it to you.
• UNLIMITED Cash Reward — keep your main current account with us and we'll give you 0:5% cashback on your credit card purchases**. As an extra bonus, we'll double the cashback to 1% for the first 3 months after receiving your card.
• UNLIMITED commission free card use abroad - all purchases overseas on your new card will now be completely free of any charges.
How does this affect my account?
• Your terms and conditions will change 3 working days after your next payment due date
(approximately 35 to 40 days from the date on this letter). You'll be sent your new card shortly after this. Your next payment due date will be shown on your next statement.
• Your new card will be ready to use straight away. Any outstanding balance remains unaffected, your PIN stays the same and additional cardholders will receive new cards. If you've forgotten your PIN simply call 08457 99 88 99.
• Your existing card will expire 40 days after you receive your new card - we recommend you start using your new card as soon as you receive it.
• Your new card will have a new 16 digit card number on the front and security code on the back If you have regular payments set up (such as a satellite TV subscription) you'll need to contact the retailer with your new card details when you receive it.
• If you pay your credit card bill by Direct Debit we'll automatically update the details for you.
* A main current account is defined as a FlcxAccount with a Visa debit card (not a cash card+) with regular monthly credits of £750 (excluding internal transfers from other Nationwide accounts).
** Purchases in pounds sterling only (balance transfers, cash advances and payment protection insurance premiums are excluded).

Kind of annoyed that they haven't offered me this yet, considering how much money I have had with them over the years.0

It was mentioned in another posting that Nationwide are sending out the upgrade letters in batches throughout August, September and October, so you should get yours soon, providing you pay £750 into your account each month.0

Clearly they don't subscribe to a proof-reading service!Old dog but always delighted to learn new tricks!0 -
Is no one else a little annoyed that they have removed the free insurances from the Gold Card without asking us? I quite liked topping up my purchases to a 2 year warranty even though I only used it once or twice. It's basically the only reason I had that card

Has anyone had their new card yet? It seems weeks since we got the letter, I know it said it would be so many days after our next bill, but this was a week ago._____________________________________________Mortgage 1 £80k paid off july 2014Mortgage 2 £213k paid off May 20210

In what way is this card superior to the Cash Reward Gold Card that i have held for many years? I phoned Nationwide only recently to double check that overseas transactions were still commission free on it and they are .... and i get cash back on uk purchases (i think at 0.5% but would need to double check that - might be 1% but not less than 0.5%). Not that i pay £750 into my flexaccount each month anyway!0

And, yes, why is this on the 'Savings & Investments' board? Can it be moved over?0
