18 Months Old Dyson Faulty....

I bought a Dyson DC23 from Argos in March last year, the motor now appears to have blown, it wont work and smells of burning when switched on, can I claim anything from the retailer for repairs as 18months is not a long time for a reasonably expensive vacuum to last, if I can claim how do I go about it as I expect the store to deny responsibility.

Just about every skip you pass has a dyson slung in, sometimes two.

5 year guarantee now. Call Dyson, they'll just replace any parts needed.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -

Yup, IIRC they've had a five year guarantee for a while, and they are very good with it (even out of guarantee iirc they would do any and all repairs for a single fixed charge, be it a damaged hose, or replacing almost everything).0 -
one of the best companies out there for service - mind you they do go wrong alot more since they moved manufacture abroad - I drive past a dyson engineer loading up his branded van with the parts he's been shipper to fit to broken hoovers, quite a few every day.
As for henry, I do agree they don't break as often, but the running costs are far higher over the lifetime and I don't beleive they carry a 5 yr warranty either...0
