quantum gas meter confused
Iam with SSE and got into a bit of debt with them and they wanted £100 quid a month direct debit just for the gas, as am a single parent i told them that that was inpossible for me to pay and they offered a prepayment meter.
Got this installed a week ago, i topped up the card with £15.00 worth of gas, as i had used a most of the emergency credit.
It worked out like this:
£6.00 for debt
£4.50 put on the emergency credit
£4.50 for gas.
Meter is still showing that am in emergency credit.
I thought that when i topped up the card that the remainging balance would have been used to clear the emergency credit.
Can anyone clarify this?

The meter will be programmed to always give you a certain amount of credit for gas (in this case it looks like 30%).
so you paid £6 towards your bill (this is usually weekly), £4.50 toward repaying the emergency credit (usually you get £5 so you need to pay back another 50p before you can use it again). You then got £4.50 to use for gas.
Based on the 30% and £6 you need to top up £9, although this will only give you £3 to use.
If you borrow the emergency credit, topping up £16 will pay the £6, £5 and leave you with £5 for gas and the emergency credit available again.
By pressing and holding the red button you can change the screen (probably to 27 GD Remaining £x.xx). fromt his screen pressing and releasing will change the screen so you can see the remaining bill, the tariff etc.0
