anyone been to the b3ckt0n or Surr3y qu4ys tesco extras? wondering whether to venture out now....

I was at G4llions R3ach today with OH and 2 little ones....OMG, kids are a nightmare to bargain hunt with and OH was even worse!!!! We were only there by chance as he was standing in at a hockey match for someone else or I'd never have ventured north of the Thames ;).

Anyway, loads of things there (compared to my 0rpingt0n extra)...
    Paper Jamz guitars £2.50
Peppa Pig George Machanic 3x figures 70p
    Mega Blok large sets £1.50
    Mega Blok small sets £1.00
    Thomas Sodor Airport set £3.00
    Boules set 40p (very heavy!!!!)
    Croquet set 50p

That's all I managed (plus the bleach 30p bogof) but probably loads more but had to go home.
No dishwasher tabs in stock and nothing up in the electricals.

Still happy with my buys and also met a few MSEers who were lovely and we were all helping one another :).

I told a few people who were asking about prices which things to look at ;) and they all seemed so chuffed.

The self scanners weren't working either upstairs or downstairs but the lady at the pharmacy was so sweet scanning things to check prices, I even went back to get things for her.

Generally a lovely (and huge) store but still north of the river and my head hurts now - nose bleeds travelling that far north ;).

71sue (if the name is free for you when you sign up) it was lovely to meet you and thanks for your help. pm me and I'll keep you posted on the bump).

Thanks so much to all who have posted finds and helped me and others. What a fab xmas this will be and I'm even sorted for party gifts and prizes at my daughters birthday plus presents for parties she and her sister will be invited to. I have to admit, I'm also doing well for birthdays next year :D

  • How are you checking the prices our locals haven't got a checking scanner and I would hate to go to the till with a trolley load and use the excuse that I couldn't find the price of all the toys can you just check!!!!!

i dont usually give a reason... just say (to a young, cant be bothered looking cashier, with no queue) - hiya! can you just check a few of these for me please, im not sure on the prices.... then as they price check them one at a time for you, i just say thins like - 'oh, il leave that then thanks' and ' yeah ill have that then please'

then offer to take all the items you refused, back to where thy can from.. usually they say ' nah, its ok.' - so even better. x

its just i have seen quite a few people who seem to get the hump when others post what they have got.... was worried about that, which made me cautious of posting.. but i thought... well, i may help others find a bargain too! - so why not.
i only took 1 of each item, which is all i need... would rather know that someone else will pick them up, and either, get a surprise when paying at the till and make their day, or a fellow MSEer pick them up.. especially as you have to be on the ball 24/7 with all these threads to keep up with everything. :)

I was in the blackp@@l store this afternoon and there were lots of cages of toys being brought out.

I wasn't really bothered about the toys as I had gone to look at electrical items. No luck there, but did notice a young member of staff scanning endless PC stuff, also lots of people queing up to have Toshiba laptops scanned.

Thank you. I nipped down at about 1pm and got few bits, the SA said they would bring more out as what he bought out got sold, but was DD's party so had to leave! Might venture back down again today lol
