What Should I Do About This?

Last night DS and I had a yummy treat of a Chinese takeaway. It is very very rare for us to do so and I went on the FSA website and chose the only one in our area which had a five star rating for cleanliness. It arrived quickly and was good value. So far we are delighted. DS goes for seconds and then discovers a foreign object which I would liken to a metal bristle off one of those barbeque brushes. Like a 1" wire. I am so glad that he spotted it before it went into his mouth as it could have done done serious damage and I won't even begin to imagine the repercussions if it had made it as far as his throat. So, my question is what would you do. I don't wish to give a restaurant who got everything else right a bad review etc but how would you approach them to make them aware. Or should I just forget it?

you either want to do something about it or you don't, doing something about it will cause grief to the restaurant, obviously doing nothing won't.
It would be environmental health you would need to report this to locally for follow up.
These things happen though, if it were me, Id be grateful I've spotted it and move on (the whole idea of coulda wolda shoulda if it had go to the throat is just that, a possiblity, fortunately not an event)0 -
I'd be more worried about choking on a dog bone. One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

I'd have rung them up, told them what you found, and arranged for a free round of seconds for tonight :P.
Mistakes happen, and they would rather give you a freebie than have you bring environmental health in.0 -

i'm not sure what to make of this reply, but my casual racism alarm is going offhelpful tips
it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)0 -
Can I say it first - Won't someone think of the children???
Seriously though OP I think you need to put this into perspective and not run around shouting 'don't panic' at the top of your voice.
The wire didn't go into your partner's mouth so no damage was done.
If I was inclined to do anything - and I think I have more in my life to worry about than what might have been - I would ring the restuarant and just let them know - if they decided to give me a freebie then all the better but apart from that I wouldn't worry.
At worst it shows that the 5 star rating is justified.2014 Target;

Can you pop in with it, and ask to have a quiet word with the manager? No drama or fireworks, keep it friendly, he or she will probably be mortified and grateful to have been informed. If they have 5* they respect their customers, clearly!0

At what point was i panicking? If I had got this out of perspective I would hardly have waited until the next day without taking any action. I was simply seeking advice on how to phrase a low key concern or whether just to leave it. Sorry you didn't understand my query.:rotfl::beer:0 -
