Santander - What to do now?

Hi All
I wrote to Santander in August regarding and A&L loan in had which completed in 2008. I had spoken to A&L Customer Services who could not give me the loan account details I was requesting as the information had been archived, I was requesting the Loan Account Number. They advised I wrote to Santander in Bradford, giving as much information as possible to identify me - so I did, using the template letter from here.
Letter 1 received back - stating that they were unable to trace my loan account (despite me giving them a great deal of information). They aske me to state my full DOB, and full address at the time. Both of which I put in my first letter.
Nevertheless I resent the letter, included some further information to help them to identify me, today I have received another letter.
Letter 2 received back - We are unable to trace my loan account as the account number has not been quoted ( - I know it hasn't it says in the first paragraph I haven't got it)
Anyway on the copy of my letter they have returned they have highlighted some of the info, and then someone has hand written on it "No Bank Account, maybe a Loan or Credit Card", it also states this in the letter that it is a loan.
What do you think I should do next?? I have included everything in the first two letters to identify my, barring a sample of my own DNA!
The loan was for £12,000 and I know it had PPI on it, but knowing what I know now, I wouldnt have needed it.
Thanks in advance

Hi there, did you pay this loan by direct debit? if you did and you have internet banking, the loan number will be in the direct debit section .
Do you live near a branch of Santander? if you do then go in and ask them to find your account number, they may not but it is worth a try.
If you have no joy with this,as the loan was only settled 3 years ago, they should still have all info for this loan, you could request all information they hold on you, this will cost you £10 but if it gets the account number it is worth it.0 -
Just to add, you could telephone and complain about them unable to find your account number for a loan that was only settled 3 years ago.

You could also try calling again (you may just have a had an unhelpful staff memeber before who fobbed you off?).
You're entitled to ask about your own financial history.
Did you sent the request as a subject access request (SAR)? You could send a SAR (details about how to do this are somewhere on this site!) you need to enclose a £10 cheque to the bank.
If they fail to respond to the SAR and they don't give a reasonable explaination why they can't find the loan details, you could also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
