Help! - identifying make of my burglar alarm

Hello, is anyone able to help identify what make is my burglar alarm so i can try and find the manual online?

Picture is of the panel, and the misterious box under the stairs. There is no name or marking whatsoever. So i dont have much to work with.

I'll try and call the number in the pic but i dont think they are open until monday, plus I doubt they will help.

Don't know the make, probably a cheap import which has been unbranded.

I would be concerned about the burn marks above the box though!

For the sake of a couple of 100 I would be inclined to get it removed and install a new one with up to date wiring and a manual!

Isn't that dust? Looks like it could be an old Lynteck going by the keys and led on the remote keypad as it's similar to the layout of my parents more recent model. Does the bottom of the keypad unit hinge down at all?

I'm not sure that its a Lyntech but they were so widely rebranded/debranded and sold on by other so-called manufacturers it could well be. It vaguely reminds me of a Scantronic but either way its not particularly new

The system appears to have been installed by an engineer (as opposed to a DIY install) and gives no indication that it was a kit, as such. Most installers buy their own choice of panels, remote keypads and detectors and knowing which brand a specific part is will not help matters. If the system still works and it just the keypad readout that has failed then you could contact the original installer to replace it or, indeed, any other installer. The named installer does not appear to be NSI or SSAIB approved although they could have changed their name and there is no obligation at present to use an approved installer in a domestic setting - assuming that it is a stand alone system that does not dial through to an alarm receiving centre.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

  • thanks for the input so far. I'm still not having much luck finding the manual for this though. The screen only displays two letter codes, like SE, RE, LO, CH, UC, UN, so trying to figure out what is what is almost inpossible!

@bondy01 I'm afraid there is no hidden panel within the keypad :(
