Im not too sure if this is the correct section to post this thread but I was wondering how much electricity does a PC consume it if switched on for about 12 hours a day?

PC Base unit and monitor.
Thanks in advance.0 -
I would estimate around 230W (2.76 units per day) 160W for the system unit and 70W for the monitor (varies by screen size) - although most PCs have 250W or more power supplies the full amount is only used if the PC is fully loaded with extra disk drives and cards.
It definitely helps to switch the monitor off when you are not sitting in front of it.0 -
Depend's on what PC you have lol, if you have the latest voltage eating top of the range pc's then a lot, one's with lot's of drives etc will be more expesensive then a small desktop small pc used for word prosessing etc. Try and get an LCD monitor that will save you a lot compared to CRTand switch the monitor off when not in use.0

What about my annoying optical mouse that stays on despite the PC being off?
It runs off the USB port, but I can't be doing with unplugging it every time!0 -

I hate that to except I use a wireless optical mouse so when i'm not using my pc i can still see the red light on at the bottom grrrrr!, I used to just take the batt's out but can't be bothered anymore it's a pain.
Oh look in your bios for the option to turn the pc's usb power off when the pc's power is off, it was a jumper on my motherboard that turned mine off.0 -
Yes, but that's as much hassle to unplug the mouse.
It is daft I know...0
