Speeding points question

My sister has been caught on a speed camera. She has had a letter saying she can accept points or pay £80 and attend a speed awareness course.

Shes thinking of going on the course so she wont increase her insurance premium but I thought you had to declare if you had recieved a speeding conviction when you take out or renew insurance wether or not you get points on your licence.

So the question is - If she still has to declare the conviction, what is the benefit of going on the course and paying the £80 as her premium will still rise.

Does anyone know how it works please

Comments

  • There is no conviction if you opt for the course. However some insurance companies have got wise to this and started asking if a speeding/driver course has been attended.
