Won an Auction in Scotland, Need a courier from England

I've just won an auction in Dundee, Scotland for a range cooker and was wondering what the cheapest way to bring it to Birmingham would be. I am able to drive so if there is no cheap alternative I will have to get it myself. Any ideas appreciated please.

Is seller happy for you to arrange your own courier and of so will itme be packed or will you be needing a man with a van type of arrangement?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I haven't asked them but it says collection only, so I guess courier would not be a problem. Thank you.0

Collection is not the same as sending a courier. I allow collection on my items and currently have a number of people actually arriving by prior arrangement to collect goods and pay cash. However, i hand the goods over for cash, they are not packed, if I am in a good mood and the goods are heavy I'll help them load the car but that's it. They get no packing no bubble wrap and if the goods are fragile I expect them to bring their own packaging.
I doubt if you will find a courier who will arrive within a half hour time slot (which is what I give my buyers) will take the stuff completely unpacked and with no boxes, labels and packing- and will pay cash.
A courier will probably give an all day time slot, the last one I used told me they would collect form me somewhere between 8am -7pm- as a busy mother that is not acceptable to me and I will not allow it. That to me is not the same as someone local calling by at a pre arranged time to collect something.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. For a range cooker you're going to need a man & van, you can try Shiply.
On collection items you should really check first, a lot of man & vans will only have 1 guy, that means the seller would need to help, fine if it's a burly bloke with a good back, not so good if it's a female, I can shift most things but the range cooker I had was beyond me with a gut at the other end of it.
You need to ask the seller if there's a particular day-time for pick up & see if you can arrange something around that.0 -

Try https://www.anyvan.com for a quote, or if it's too expensive try https://www.sixt.co.uk or https://www.easyvan.com for cheap self drive vans. I love sixt and easyvan because you could fly up there, pick up your van from an airport the pick up you cooker, drive home and drop it off at your local sixt or easyvan0

You might try a Dundee man+van to pick up the cooker and pallet it, then it can come down on a pallet transport network which is usually the cheapest way of shifting largish things. You'll need your own labour to offload it at your end as the pallet people will be kerbside drop usually.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

Remember there are absolutely no roads in Scotland. 2 muckle lads in kilts'll probably carry it down for you for a 10er each and a few drams ...0
