  • I haven't heard from any of my creditors re my accounts at all. You probably wont. They will be too busy falling over their bottom lip!

  • Did your OR say how long it might be before they send the exemption letter to you Mandy? If not, and you think they've had enough time to do it, you could just ring them up and politely ask if it's on its way.

ring/email them to jog 'em along?

Note......the other thread doesn't mention 'exemption'....

There is a world of difference between 'exemption' as an asset....and simply being 'allowed to keep' because it involves too much hassle for the OR's office to recover...

Mandy...contact OR soonest for that exemption letter....will put your mind at rest!

As ive just found out they have long memories..lol.

Basically if you dont use the bike for work then they will want it..seems like they can use what ever time frame they like.

Maybe best to contact them and ask the question..at least if they say you have the option of paying too keep it you can prepare yourself.

As I posted before....and to settle Mandy's mind over this......if a car/bike/vehicle is exempted as an asset, by the OR....then there will be no subsequent claim to purchase the OR's interest.

The OR's office should forward written confirmation regarding the exemption as an asset...as it is effectively a legal process.....not simply an amenity.

In stuart30's case, it appears no such exemption was granted......but due [probably] to administrative problems [staffing levels, for example]....the OR's interest in the vehicle was not offered for purchase by the OP, during the course of BR..

Exemption as an asset doesn't rely on 'use for work'.....in the stickies are a number of other reasons for exempting a vehicle as an asset......and being used to get to work actually doesn't automatically mean the vehicle will be exempted......evidence of it's need must be produced first.

That evidence will consist of, being able to prove there is no viable alternative transport.

So MAndy...get that letter, and don't worry yourself.
