Santander ppi

Hi everyone

I am looking for some help please :o

I have a Kwik Fit account which was originally with GE Money but is now santander. I wrote to them last July to try to reclaim my ppi and they replied with the standard 'you ticked the box, you signed the form, you should've checked it' and 'you had 28 days to change your mind' reply. They said it was their final decision and referred me onto the FLA (?)

After a long search I found the letter yesterday and was surprised to see that it has been a year since I have done this. My question now is, have I missed the boat on this one? has it been too long now to do anything else about trying to get the ppi back? or can I make a new claim?

I also have an Evans account (same story GE Money and now Santander) which I had ppi on but have never written to them about claiming it back. Would I send the standard letter/form and expect the same reply and if so what would be my next plan of attack.

Thanks very much in advance for any help/advice that is given

    Hi there

There is no harm in giving it another go on the complaint by completing the reclaim questionnaire as on step 3 below, if they reject it again, it seems they were not regulated by the FSA, so the FOS is unable to investigate against the business, so the FOS will therefore possibly suggest taking it the underwriter/insurer avenue of the business, as these would have been regulated.

The lender should on request send you details of the underwriter of the policy.

In regards of the FLA, its known that they are not that helpful, but if the bank reject again they may suggest this avenue, where you can give it a go, and if they reject, as stated above ring the FOS on advice of where to take your cases, as said they will more than likely suggest the underwriter.

    Hope this helps, good luck.:)

Thanks very very much Di, I will give it a go. There is no harm in trying and it may take a while but if I get some money back at the end of it then it will be worth it :T
