how long does comfrey fertilizer store for?
I've grown large areas of comfrey, chopped a load down (leaving lots for the bees), put it in a bin with water, and after a few weeks I have my liquid fertiliser. But how long can I store the juice for before it loses its potency?
Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

To be honest, I've used it after 6months with no adverse affects, it still stinks and plants still grow well with it.
I make mine in an old plastic wheelie bin with a tap in the side... I did I guide some time ago (including an instructable). I tend to just shove some comfrey/nettles in the top with some water - I guess it's always got some of the old stuff in it as I use so little!Tim0 -
Thanks!
The bags of compost I bought this year were lousy, so I'm planting up plants in a mixture (very well mixed) of the bought compost, well rotted horse manure, and clay soil, then water the plants with my comfrey stuff- so far the plants love it.
I'm going to make one last lot of comfrey stuff to use in Spring before there's enough leaves to make more next year (and I always let the bees have the first lot)DONT BREED OR BUY WHILE HOMELESS ANIMALS DIE. GET YOUR ANIMALS NEUTERED TO SAVE LIVES.0 -
You can always add chopped leaves direct to the soil and similarly the rubbish that comes out the bottom of the buckets can go on the compost heap.
Don't forget nettles are pretty good too! Mine is 90% nettles.Tim0
