we are going from Scarborough to Pitlochry on 12 Dec Returning on 15th Dec. Have tried Red Spotted Hankie. My train ticket. Megatrain. The train line ticket alerts. Split ticketing. Spoken to the trainline operator, 3 times!!!!!All to no avail. I'm getting soooo fed up and not much further on. Can't get the price down any further than 73.00 outward and 43.00 return. 2 adullts travelling. Really thought i could crack this cheap train tickets thing. Am VERY cross and frustrated. Anyone out there do better than me. Obviously we would rather not be travelling ALL day, i appreciate its a long way. Coach travel is out because we are taking a dog. PLEEEESE HELP!!!!!!

Booking through www.eastcoast.co.uk you can currently get standard class advance tickets on those dates for £51.90 on the 1248 from Scarborough changing at York onto the direct train to Pitlochry arr. 1829. Coming back is only £38.30 on the 0923 from Pitlochy direct to York then connecting train to Scarborough arr. 1530. Total £90.20. These prices are for two adults, no railcard, and include online booking discount that East Coast offer on their own fares. You'll also be able to choose your own seats between York and Pitlochry when you get to that stage of the booking process.
