LUSH - is it worth it?

DD is 14 and its her birthday is in a couple of weeks. She has typical teenage skin. Not horrid, but never completely clear eithier. After trying all kinds the OCM seems to have produced the best results, but she still has lots of little bumps under the skin.
I thought as a treat to buy her some skin products from LUSH. I say as a treat as it's not something I can normally afford. I realise alot of the raw materials are very costly, hence the price. I like the feel good factor of buying organic, fairly traded products, and the yummy scents LUSH seems to be able to produce, but most of all I want to know if it really works and improves the skin before I splash out the money. We've experimented with so many products that seem to do no good at all, some in fact making matters worse!
Her skin is oily and bumpy with occasional flare ups and pimples depending on how dilligent she is with the OCM. Suprisingly things clear up every time she goes surfing. The water is very cold but I suppose its the salt!
I was thinking of getting the 'Dark Angels' cleanser, 'Cup Cake' mask and the 'Enzymion' moisturiser - what do you LUSH devotees think?

No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!

I don't think they're over price. Suppose it depends on what you buy.
A good one for your daughter would be the Ocean Salt scrub.. its heavenly.Smile, why not.0 -
I second the Ocean Salt scrub
I should get myself some more actually! The Catastrophe Cosmetic face mask is also lovely.

Why not take her to a store, (or even email the Lush team for advice) say what the problems are, what your looking for, if you buy a few things to test they may throw in a few more to test and sample.0

Dark angles may be a little harsh for your daughters skin, if she only has the odd flare up or patch of break outs.
Angels on bare skin is an excellent everyday cleanser. Loads of lavender to calm the skin and a little bit of scrub to control the oily patches.
Ocean salt is a great choice, especially if you know the sea salt helps clear her skin already.
Has for the moisteriser. Go into a Lush shop and ask for a sample of the Enzymion or vanishing cream. They both work well on oily skin.0 -
I dont use Lush products myself but do buy them for pressies, I cant recommend products for you but I can say that Lush staff are easily the nicest and most helpful I have come across (its not often I say such things;)) so it would be worth having a chat with them before you buy:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

after a recommendation from MrsE on here, i've started using Superdrug's Vitamin E range - very good value (especially since when i bought some stuff it was on 50% off!). might be an option if Lush is expensive so you could buy one Lush item and one or two other cheaper items? (i do like Lush stuff a lot but haven't every tried the skincare stuff so can't really comment on it).:happyhear0

I have combination skin and have recently started using a cheap Neutrogina cleanser I bought in the USA...works wonders! May be worth seeing if there's something similar in the UK? (I haven't had a chance to look yet).0

The only trouble is... if you cannot normally afford LUSH products, what happens if you find the perfect products for her skin then she runs out?? :cool:Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?0

I got my DD the dark angels face mask and it didn't do much for her skin, but it did leave lots of black dirt in the bottom of the bath - that was the only noticeable difference.
Her skin gets better when she lays off the exfoliating scrubs and does T zone face masks a few times a week.
I have had bad skin all my life and find that shield soap has helped to clear mine up noticeably after using it for a few weeks. ( The bar was in a craft thing DD made, I used the soap rather than let it go to easte and noticed the difference) I try to get DD to use it too, but she's a bit of a wimp when it comes to adding soap straight onto her face
If the OCM method works well enough I'd buy her something nicer than skin clearing stuff for her birthday, tbh, and get her to add some sugar to the oil once a week to help exfoliate her skin a bit more.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Second this; the staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. Dark Angels may be a bit harsh. I've tried Angels On Bare Skin (AOBS) and Aqua Marina face products; both very effective, AOBS is clarifying and makes skin feel great. Just go in and ask for advice, they should be ok with giving a few testers!
