Bidz.com Still awaiting item from 10/12. Anyone else used?

Hi All
I won a ring from Bidz.com auctions. Paid just $160 & it was valued at around $5,300. Even with customs duty it would have been a VERY good buy.

Purchased 10th December & there is still no sign of it. Tracking just went to FEDEX depot in CA. I think this was just bulk tracking of numerous items destined for many destinations as they say delivery will be via Royal Mail.

I managed to get the auction at way under what the ring usually goes for - around 10% of the valuation figure is more normal. Have looked online & seen many bad comments about Bidz - but then again it appears they sell many, many items a day - an auction every 5 seconds & I have also seen good comments.

Has anyone from the UK ever dealt with them? Your feedback would be appreciated - good & bad.

I paid with Paypal so have 45 days to file a claim but Bidz said to wait 3-4 weeks from the time it reaches FEDEX facility in CA - 20th December. (when I purchased it said to wait 4-6 weeks, but have changed their times) BUT they also said you must only make a claim when 8 weeks have elapsed.

I suspect the auction I won went at too low a price & they haven't sent it out. Come on you lot PLEASE let me know your experiences.

  • Hi

I used to buy jewellery items from bidz as presents for the family and yes they do take forever to arrive. I did receive most of the items in the beginning and then I lost one parcel and complained to them and they did not do anything - in the mean time I was still purchasing and then a second parcel also did not appear and I stopped purchasing from them. I was unaware that I could claim through paypal and I lost a few good pounds - the last purchase I made was last year and nothing since.

It could be that your parcel is on its way and it could take 7 to 8 weeks - whether you want to wait or claim is really upto to you.

before the 45 day paypal deadline submit a paypal chargeback claim. If you do not put in a claim you cannot start one later.

Then if and when item does arrive just cancel the claim.

I've used Bidz on many occasions and have never experienced any problems, but because I always use the free posting option, I have noticed it can take AGES for the goods to arrive and, from memory it does state that postage can take up to 6 weeks on the site. Failing that use the tracking number and contact Fedex directly.
I'm back after a break :money:
  • The tracking number is just for tracking to the FEDEX facility in CA. It was coming up as delivered on 20th December. There was no other tracking number supplied to me hence I believe that this is a bulk shipment tracking number. I used the free posting option - when I purchased it stated 4-6 weeks BUT now they have reduced it to 3-4 weeks.

Bargainlover - the items that went missing - did you win them at much less than 10% of the estimated value? I really do suspect that they didn't ship out as I had won the item at too low a bid.

If they do ship all items to FEDEX in bulk, as I suspect, then it's an easy thing for them to add an additional item number to this shipment.

I'm waiting till Wednesday - which is 4 weeks from when the item was in the FEDEX facility in CA & am going to contact Bidz. I really would like the ring. I will tell them that if it isn't delivered by next Monday I will be forced to start a chargeback via Paypal - it'll be 43 days by then.

I have seen on other sites that they will no longer sell to you if you do start a Paypal chargeback.

MrB - did you get a through tracking number? Otherwise I don't know how Fedex can track an individual parcel?
