My husband still records his favourite radio progammes on to a cassette recorder (I know!!)
I am trying to bring him up to date, but as he says if he hears a good song or is listening to a program and wants to record it, all he has to do is press a button - you can't do that with a CD (his words)
Is there a radio that has an inbuild hard drive or removable storage so he can record what he wants and then play back in the car?
Thanks

If your computer has a line in (I would imagine all do now) you can connect a lead from the headphone socket to the line in. The lead you will need has a 3.5mm jack plug on each end. Windows has a recording utility which can record from the line in. the resultant files can be burnt to a CD. I have copied tapes from my stereo using this method, so it does work. Just make sure you use the line in socket not the mike socket as the recording will sound warped!0

Roberts has pause/rewind functions. Cheaper models with record function may be available - I haven't checked the whole range but the results of a search for Pauseplus are:
1. Roberts RD55 DAB/FM radio White (Roberts RD55 DAB/FM radio White) £84.95
2. Roberts CRD33 DAB clock radio (Roberts CRD33 DAB digital clock radio) £83.32
3. Roberts RadioGemini 50 Revival DAB Pastel Pink RD50 (Roberts Radio RD50 DAB Digital Radio in Pastel Pink with Pause Plus) £112.07

5. Roberts RD55 DAB/FM radio Black (Roberts RD55 DAB/FM radio Black) £84.95
6. Roberts RDK2 Under Cupboard Radio (Roberts RDK2 Under Cupboard Radio) £88.29
"The pause plus facility means you can pause live radio, go away to answer the phone and then re-start your listening just where you left off. The pause plus facility means you can pause live radio, go away to answer the phone and then re-start your listening just where you left off. Some let you rewind the last half hour of programme if you missed part of a conversation, or if you'd like to hear a particular song one more time. if he's got an mp3 player go to Radio Downloader at http://www.nerdoftheherd.com/tools/radiodld/ he can download his favourite programs in an mp3 format to his computer, then transfer them to play on his mp3 player.
I record lots of programs and listen to them when I want to.
If his mobile phone can play music he can use that.
If his car cant play mp3 he might have to invest in an FM radio transmitter to attach to his mp3 player.0 -
+1 for Radio Downloader, a neat little program that does the trick.0

I suspect they are of an age where their compliance with the digital revolution extends to a Freeview box and a CD player.
Some of the cheaper phones on offer now have an FM radio with recording possible onto an SD card, and so this could be a cheap solution.0 -
I would suggest getting one of the digital radios that records to SD card - self-contained and simple compared with faffing around with computer-based stream capture. Just put it in the kitchen, and press the button when you want to record a show for later. Simple, robust, suitable for the compact cassette generation.0

Also a bit of an assumption, care to put forward an age when the inability to use a computer sets in?
Next time you have a query, perhaps you could also put an arbitrary age, and state the replies from anyone over it will be ignored. See how far you get.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
