help!

Options
am a very basic laptop user.
problems with 5 year old laptop this last week.it just "freezes",no buttons work ,i have to turn it off with power button.
when i turn it back on it says a disk needs checking, which it then does and its fine for a while again, then does exactly same again.
have AVG protection and AVG pc tune-up.have gone through all the scans/defrag/cleanup things to no avail.
as i said before,am pretty clueless with coputers apart from getting on the internet (which is all i use it for!)
any suggestions?is it just an old machine coming to the end of its life?
if i had to get rid of it,how do you get all your info off it?
don't think i need anything actually saving from it.
cheers.

    Post a HijackThis log:

Do a Malwarebytes QUICK scan, clean everything it finds, and post a log:

Alternatively of course if you don't have anything of importance, you could just restore it to defaults/reinstall.

The link (http://www.users.on.net/~russ/hjt/) explains how to post the log in the picture guide :p

If you work out from the picture guide how to paste the HijackThis log, could you reload Malwarebytes, then click on the Logs tab, and open then mbam-log-2011-09-23 (xx-xx-xx).txt, then paste it here too.

Depends what brand/model, you'll have to say which. Usually variations of restarting the computer, and hitting something like F10, F11, ALT F10, etc, and you get the option to restore/recover. It'll wipe everything and make it back to new.
