John Williams Windows vs Clearview Windows

Hi,
Just wanted to see if anyone has had any dealing with either of the following:
John Williams Windows & Doors (http://www.johnwilliams.co.uk/)
Clearview Windows & Doors (http://www.clearviewhome.co.uk)
both based in the north west.
We're looking for Bi-Fold doors and thought we'd get a couple of quotes, Clearview have come in at approx £3500, and we expected John Williams to quote what is effectively the same doors at a similar price, but they've come in at £8300.
Now I'm worried that the £3500 may not be as good quality as the John Williamson ones.
Anyone got any experience with either of these companies, who can offer some advice,
Thanks.

In your case, I'd be thinking that John Williams were vastly overpriced, rather than the opposite. I assume you've seen the samples of the windows / doors that Clearview do and are happy with them ?
I've never had any work done by either of them so have no idea of their sales tactics, but are they the sort of company that offer discounts left, right and centre ?0 -
I've had windows and doors on two occasions from John Williams and also a conservatory and have always experienced good service and excellent product. My thoughts on the price difference is that perhaps one quote is for aluminium and t'other for PVCU, also colour variances? Perhaps Clearview quoted for internal doors against an external door set up? The industry does have huge differences in quality and costs but I would prefer to deal with a manufacturer who is independently assessed by the British Standards Institute and has kite marked product. Sometimes it is a case of chalk versus cheese.0

Hi I live locally in Llandudno, North Wales and I found conwyvalleywindows.co.uk to be an excellent company for the supply and insulation of UPVC Windows, conservatories and doors.
Personally, I wouldn't touch Conwy Valley Windows (or John Williams companies) with a barge pole.
A quick search at companies House indicates that the current company, Conwy Valley Windows and Conservatories Limited have only been around since 2009. A previous incarnation of the company, Conwy Valley Windows, has recently been wound up. The sole director of Conwy Valley windows is Tracey Williams, who's held around 15 other directorships, most of which are for companies that have been wound up.
Meanwhile John Williams Home Improvements, of the original message above, has a website claiming to have been "A trusted name for over 40 years". The company was registered at companies house in 2008.

I read the comments you made about not touching Conwy Valley Windows or John Williams with a barge pole prior to placing my order with John Williams.
As an accounts professional I checked out your comments and found that some of the comments you make about Conwy Valley appear to be correct, however the claims you make about John Williams do not.
It is true John Williams have been established over 40 years now, in fact it is approaching 44 years.
Specifically you make reference to a director of John Williams, also a director of another company New Build Windows. This Company was not wound up, it had never traded and was dissolved. I suspect this company was originally registered to protect a brand name for perhaps future use.
You make the comment "There seems to be a bit too much 'phoenixing' new companies going on here" for your information this practice is illegal and the remarks you make are also defamatory to both companies.
You further make comments "it's amazing how someone found a message mentioning John Williams windows (director John Wiliams of Colwyn Bay) and posted a glowing report of Conwy Valley windows (director Tracey Williams, of Colwyn Bay). Someone might think there was a link between the companies"
I have not been able to find any such message anywhere and John Williams have confirmed that they have no association with Tracey Williams or Conwy Valley.
The comments you make about these companies are not wholly accurate and I suspect that they are being made on behalf of a competitor company as this market is fiercely competitive.
For consumers benefit I found when carrying out my appraisal of JohnWilliams to meet my requirements that their Quality, products and service is second to none and I believe they offer excellent value for money too. I was recommended to consider John Williams by friends who have been delighted with the work carried out at their homes.

What absolute rubbish how stupid do you think people are on here?
Thumb Remote is absolutely spot on here, I have had a look for myself. The comments are factual in what has been said.

You dad has 9 companies again the same type going back over 14 years

By the way the comments if true would be libellous and not defamation a distinct difference.
Good luck with your new conservatory John, I hope you boys done a decent job0 -

The message was from vine99, I quoted it at the top of my post. However [STRIKE]your[/STRIKE] the original has been deleted as spam by now.0 -
