Are there any Free websites to find out the age of a property?
The house needs some basic modernisation e.g new kitchen, bathroom but just wondering as rough idea if it will need rewiring and no idea how much that would cost?
Roof and UPVC windows all look ok.

No websites that I know of but you can make a pretty fair guess at the age by looking at the style of the outside!
The wiring isn't neccessarily the same age as the house either, so you might not draw much from that. Being very general(!) if it's up to date it will have a flicky switch fuse box and flat grey wiring. It can still be safe with different wiring, but you will need a new fuse box if it doesn't have switches.
If it doesn't have modern style plugs and switches, it definately needs rewiring!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Any idea the cost of rewiring ?0 -
It could be 1930s, but with the type of brick it looks like has been used (picture's a bit small too see), I think it looks more 1950s.
Three bed semi? £3500 maybe?
Have a look at the "Is this fair?" board, there might be something to compare it to.

Hi
I purchased a 1940's 3 bed semi and this needed a full rewire. This cost £2000 last summer.
Have a look on the tinternet as to what a newish consumer looks like as well as the new colours for wiring. You then can compare this to your set up and make a decsion whether or not to get an electrician in to take a look and give you a quote.
As per usual, get 3 quotes from registered electricians and ask about cost, time and what they will inlcude for the price e.g. number of sockets, cooker cable etc...
Trust me, from experience, if your house needs a full rewire, its messy and i certainly wouldnt do any other work until this is completed. Once completed you may need to redecorate throughout.0
