Gmail connection problem

Options
For the past couple of days I have been having trouble geting my emails to download to my computer. I get the following message: There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'pop.gmail.com', Server: 'pop.gmail.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR [AUTH] Username and password not accepted.', Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92
I am able to get in via webmail and can read and send emails that way. I have checked that I have the right port numbers and have tried re-entering my password, and tried shutting Outlook Express and reopening it but it makes no difference.
I have XP home and am connecting to the internet with a 3mobile dongle (used it for months with no problem).

  • It might be worth, if only to rule it out as a cause, checking the settings on your Gmail account.

Just to make sure that the Pop account is enabled.

I don't see any reason it would suddenly be disabled but worth checking out.

I have actually just now been able to get my email working again, I have no idea why it works sometimes and not others.
