HSBC, still waiting for calculation of PPI payout!!!

hi all,
as some of you may know had a claim going with hsbc since april 2010, its been throught the motions of FOS etc etc

got a letter from FOS on 17th july stating hsbc were willing to settle up on the FOS recommendations calculation

FOS said they will automatically inform hsbc of my decision to accept on 5th august and it can take upto 8 weeks for the calculation

now by my reckoning their 8 weeks is up in around 6 days.....and ive not heard a peep from hsbc in any way shape or form

getting a little fed up now of waiting for a recalculation!!!
any ideas as to if it usually takes this long?????

also, my loan is still ongoing with hsbc(but im NOT in arrears, default etc) so will i receive the full amount i have already paid to them in cash?? and then the restructuring of the rest of the loan??(as if the ppi had never been taken out??)

any help would be appreciated

  • have the same issue, i referred my case to FOS during the High Court review, and although HSBC upheld my two loans, i am waiting for calculations. They told me they have up to 7 October to come with figures (given 10 weeks by FOS). So call HSBC and ask them the deadline date
  • Im in the same boat but have been told by HSBC that they have until the start of Nov to get back to me - Ive called them a couple of times just to make sure everything is on track because the last thing I want is for Nov to arrive and nothing has moved!

If you call this number you should get straight through and they are generally pretty helpful - as far as Im aware, its the direct number for HSBC PPI cases going through the FOS: 02380 723 634

  • hi
also in same boat , case been going on since april 2010 been through FOS etc , been told by HSBC that they have until oct 7 to send me figures , although i was told by the fos that should receive calculations and payment by sept 30th . Getting really fed up now as been waiting nearly 18 months for an obvious missell , have kept in contact with bank and fos but claim is still waiting calculation .
  • Just passed my 2 weeks for FOS to advise HSBC. Guess it's going to be more than 8 weeks then. I'm going to call when I get home to see if they have been advised by FOS and try and get a date for my calc.
  • I was hoping that because my case went through the FOS it would be resolved as a priority (ie quickly!)

I guess that was wishful thinking because from the feedback here it looks like HSBC are using the full 8 week calculation period and then some!
  • well i got through to a really helpful guy at HSBC and he said he wil chase and i should have an offer by the end of the week and would take another week after responding for payment. No mention of 8 weeks for a calc. Here's hoping anyways.
