Comet - 9 month interest free period, yet taking money after 1 month

Options
Hi all,

I haven't posted before but im hoping there is somebody that can help me :).

I bought an LG 3D TV from Comet a month ago and in store, I signed up to their 9 month interest free period on the understanding that I could pay as much or as little in that 9 month period as I wanted and then after that period, a direct debit would come out monthly.

I looked in my account this morning and £24.25 has been taken by Santander Cards UK. I phoned up Comet and they put me through to Santander and after being passed around 5 people some indian woman eventually decided to help me.

She went away and after 5 minutes came back saying that my interest free period ended on August 25th. Well I bought it on that day so how can my interest free period have ended before it began?!?! I told her she was wrong and she came back with "No sir, you are wrong". Now this really really annoyed me. I got more and more angry with her and told her I know what I bought but she wouldn't listen to me, told me to speak to Comet and put the phone down on me.

I hate bad customer service but this was just plain rude. I need to get hold of Comet to complain but I can't! I've tried their normal number but nobody will deal with me because they aren't qualified and there isn't a complaints line!

Can anybody help me please? Are Comet likely to give me my money back and honour the deal that they sold me?

Thanks for reading :)

Elliott

Comet will have used the wrong code when processing the credit which is all that Santander will see. Speak to the store.

Be careful, as far as I know on one of these agreements the whole amount would have to be paid off within the nine month period, if you dont then you are liable for the interest for the whole of the 9 months, check it out please, for your own sake.

And dont rely on what the salesman says, tell you need to see it in wrting.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
