I once moved my charm bracelet which had a regular hiding place in the bedroom, when we were decorating, into a safe place. So safe it took 2 years before it turned up,after nearly destroying the house in a search for it:D

    Oh to have a memory:rolleyes:

The "safe place" turned out to be the electricity meter cupboard.......under some junk on the floor, which escaped the eyes of the meter readers.....

Seriously i would imagine somewhere inside something old and smelly in a dark loft would be as safe as anywhere.Especially if ,like ours you need to perch on a chair just to climb up into it!!

What about like you often see in films, a hollowed out hardback book that you don't read (could get one from a charity shop)

You could get quite a bit in there but again there's a risk of it going in a fire.

We have a safe bolted to the floor in the bottom of a wardrobe, I suppose it can be found but nobody would get into it or be able to lift it from its mountings.

At my parents house they had a tile that pulled out of the chimney breast to the side of the fire and it that had a 30cm void behind it and money used to be kept in there. This eventually became a "time capsule" and was properly sealed for someone to discover in the future.

I once kept a few hundred pounds in a copy of Charles Dickens' 'Hard Times'.
But I agree with others that you should probably pay off your debts and save yourself some money.

thanks everyone you have certainly given me room for thought, i have also had it suggested that i put it in a tupperware box at back of freezer. state my freezer is in may never see it again or else one of the kids would try blinging it in the micro lol

Other great idea: stick it in a tupperwear box, then wrap the box and a stone in a bag and chuck it in your toilet cistern (might need to adjust the ballcock). If you're really paranoid, could do this, but manufacture a false bottom for the cistern too.

Alternatively, the same thing would work well in the water tank - especially if it's in an attic out of the way.

may get damp getting it back though :)
