Can you get tights that last (almost) forever?

Hi all,
My work uniform requires me to wear natural coloured tights. I end up throwing away a pair every 2 or 3 days its costing me a fortune! I'm wondering if its worth investing in some thicker tights which would be great for winter too. I've been thinking about buying some of those tights that dancers use, I'm guessing these would last ages but will they look a bit odd for everyday wear? Some very thick, longlasting tights that look like normal 15-20 denier tights would be ideal but do they exist?
Has anyone got any recommendations for me?

well 3 years ago I splashed out and paid £8 for 3 pairs of opaque black tights from M&S and still have them completely indestructible best buy ever. They also have a nice texture and fit. I had always bought cheap before but it was a false economy.0

i have bought cheap and expensive and their all end up laddered or with holes in them.
friends of mine are required to wear flesh coloured tights and as their regs state must have a spare pair just incase in their handbags and they stock up on them at primark.
almost a pair a day they go through but they have done the same as me - bought expensive bought cheap and none of them ever last esp in high heels all day on your feet walking miles!0 -
i still have tights i wore to school..... although they are thick black ones rather than flesh coloured ones. i wreck the low denier ones almost every time. someone did once recommend wearing hold ups so that if you laddered one leg, you could still use the other. not sure about wearing them all the time though.
hope someone has a good solution.....:happyhear0 -

In BHS this week I noticed they had tan tights in 40 Denier - I think was 3 pairs for £6, but not 100% sure. Was tempted!0

Try Boots or M&S support tights!

I don't wear them now because I can wear trousers for work, but when I had to wear a skirt suit I bought these having had a VV op. I couldn't believe how long they lasted, they were pretty indestructible. Just hand wash with soap in the wash basin each night!
Modern support tights are quite fine .....long gone are the Nora Batty days...........and not really distinguishable from normal tights unless you're being very fussy and they come in nude shades.
I would recommend going for medium or firm , not light support, for durability. Try and them and see which looks best for you, firm support will last longer, but medium may look better. They have the added benefit of giving extra support if you're on your feet all day. Win win!0 -

Did anyone else cut the single laddered leg off 2 pairs of tights and then layer them one pair on top of the other ? (as done at school in the 70's)0 -

Loads of times :rotfl::rotfl:
I had forgotten about that one :rotfl:
Have a look at Silkies - when I had to wear tights for work I got some of these and they lasted ages.
Here is the US site with much more information than the uk site:

UK contact phone number is 0845-034-4456
I used to order mine over the phone so maybe you still need to ring them to order.
There are some on ebay for quite reasonable prices.
