Time Barred PPI?

I might be pushing this a bit here. I got a loan from RBS in 1998 and was told I would only get it if I paid the PPI.
Does anyone know if I can still claim or has anyone had any success with a claim which was from a long time ago?
Thanks in advance.

RBS was a member of the Banking Ombudsman scheme, so FOS has jurisdiction.
However, you may encounter difficulty in persuading them that you were told that it was compulsory and that, in reality, it was not.0 -
Hi there
I was recently successful in making reclaims from the late 90s going into the 2000's and the bank Lloyds are now also looking into my mid 90s.
However, yes you can make a reclaim and if its only now you recently became aware of the mis selling, then let them know that as well.
To reclaim, complete and sent the questionnaire below and keep a copy for yourself as well, good luck.

There are some time bars they can apply but currently they dont appear to be. However, as mentioned above, the problem is that your complaint is one that doesnt actually result in many upheld complaints (it relies on other failings). You have no evidence to support your accusation and they will have no documentation to support your accusation. Also, after all these years, the documentation may no longer exist. So, they can usually reject for either or both of those reasons.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
