Ways to Lower Bills

Options
Today has been a productive day for me. Over the past year I have received a barrage of mistakes and examples of bad customer services from a number of companies (Bank of Scotland/Sky/02/Three Mobile/Ikea). With some spare time on my hands I thought it was time I get in contact with these companies to see what I could get in forms or compensation for their mistakes. I got:

More Channels & £5 off a month for 12 months from SKY.
Half Price Line rental for 6 months from sky.
£70 Payment from Bank of Scotland.
£28 from o2.
Still waiting to hear back from Three and Ikea.

I want people to see this and realise that companies should not mess you about and if they make a mistake they need to pay, just like we need to do when we need a mistake.

Please share your stories of lowering your monthly bills in any other way.

  • share the bad experience, not just the result
  • Fair Point.. The complaints were as follows:

Sky: My neighbours and very good friends set up the same sky package three months after us and got it much cheaper.

In addition to this, When moving house it took 6 weeks for sky to reconnect my internet. in this time they provided me with a mobile broadband dongle that was the slowest thing since dial up!

Bank of Scotland: I was incorrectly told by a consultant in BOS that my account number was wrong and they would not allow me to do a transfer to pay rent. Thus resulting in a charge of £70. To be fair they were very quick to cover this.

o2: I was sold the contact on the basis that I could lower my minutes in 9 months and keep my unlimited internet. However a few months later o2 decided they would stop offering unlimited internet, after being promised a phone call about the matter from a manager, no call was received.

Three: I was "Kindly" told that three would increase my data usage for free due to me going over my limit which I thought was nice. Three months later I found out that they had tied me in to another 2 year contract without telling me.

Ikea: Was told 6 times that a particular couch was in store to find it it was not, after driving for miles we decided to drive to another IKEA in another City. They stated that it would delivered between a week and two weeks - no later! for a lovely cost of £62. 2 weeks later I am told they have no idea where the couch is. 3 weeks later I need to take a day off work at the last minute because they have managed to find the couch.

I think bad service is attraced to me!:(
