Will I be without Gas & Power?

Hello,
I'm currently living in a Flat Share in London. Two of our flatmates are moving out and transferring the flat British Gas account (in their name) to their new flat.
I have just used moneysupermarket.com to sign up to EDF. Upon completion of this process I reached a page which outlined the steps and indicated it could be weeks before the actual switch occurs.
As the flatmates are moving out this weekend (and switching the British Gas address a short time after) is there a chance that we will be without power until the EDF process is complete?
Or do we use Electricity/Gas as normal and back-pay EDF based on our first meter reading?
Any help would be much appreciated !

EDF will take some time to take over the account so my guess is British Gas will be your supplier until then? Call BG to check - it's very unlikely they'll cut you off! Take meter readings when your flatmates move out in case of any queries further down the line!0

if your name isnt on the account for your flat you must do this now, or BG will reject your request.Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?0 -
Hi, the day they move out ring up British Gas and register with them on a standard tariff so that you won't be locked in with them.
At the same time give them the current meter readings which you should read and agree together with your flatmates.
You will use and pay BG until any switch goes through, which can take 5-8 weeks.
The point is that you cannot 'switch' unless you already have a supplier so in your case you need to sign with BG first.if your name isnt on the account for your flat you must do this now, or BG will reject your request.0
