hi all, im really annoyed with the man in carpet right today, i went in for a browse and managed to find a great carpet and it was on sale was £24.99 down to £11.99 per sqm, salesman came over asked if he could help etc, told him i loved the carpet but just wanted to pop home and get hubby to measure the room instead of me guessing it and promised to be back shortly as i was also interested in a remeant too,
so i went straight home, had hubby measure and was back in the store an hour later, to find that the one carpet i wanted was taken off sale and i mean it was the only one put back at full price, i had the same salesman come over to help and i said that wasnt the price it was before and hes responce was, oh yes it came of sale today that was the carpet you still wanted isnt it!!!!! eeeeeerrrrr no, i not paying £25 quid per sqm for it, he then tried saying it was up for £14.99 per sqm before they removed the sale tags,,,, so i walked away and went to get the remeant i had seen before to discover every offcut one i like had been removed, i was disgusted, really felt like i was being forced into paying a higher price than i would of done an hour before,,,, today they had a bonus 20% off day, even that was removed from the carpet i wanted, how can they end a bonus 20% day at lunchtime and only on the one i want when they knew i was coming back for it,,,,
has anyone else had problems like this and and are they really aloud to do that

Are you claiming that they took the sale price off and removed just the remnants you liked? And they did this solely on the off-chance that you would pay a higher price?
I don't think that's likely.0 -
I had been looking at the Carpet Right offers a couple of weeks ago.
My local store was quite clear with me that the offer would be finished by today, and the next offer wouldn't be till November
There was an offer for me to pay a deposit, to hold the price, till I was ready to pay in full, and once a deposit was paid, I could change my mind about which carpet to have, but I am still dithering between carpet and wood.
You may have felt you were being pressured into a decision if the salesperson advised you that the offer would finish at Lunchtime, or in x number of hours.
Offers have to end at sometime, and for you it's disappointing your visit wasn't a few days ago,

Why are you going to these places anyway? The carpet has never had a value of £25m2.
Go to a decent independent.0 -
It's possible that your interest in the carpets drew their attention to the fact that they were incorrectly priced. I would say that is more likely than any suggestion that they specifically raised the prices in order to force you into paying more - how on earth would they have known that you wouldn't buy the carpet at the lower price when you were there the first time?0
