Thumbs up to British Gas

A couple of months ago, I'd contacted British Gas by phone to register my Nectar Card with them.

Today I checked my Nectar Statement and nothng was showing for BG so I rang them to query it.

As I'm on pre-pay meters I had to ring 0800 107 0185 but calling that on a mobile was a no-no. I have an app on my phone which when putting in an 0800 number, searches their database for a landline number which then gets routed through somehow so it comes out of my inclusive minutes :) (The landline number it sent me to was 01889 312308 if anyone also has a pre-pay meter and wants to register their Nectar Card with them via a mobile phone).

Anyway, the chap at BG told me that there was no record of my Nectar Card but would take the details and then check to make sure it had registered before the call ended. He put me on hold for a couple of minutes then came back and said it had gone through but he was just going to talk to the Pre Payment team as they can sometimes award additional Nectar points at their discretion due to the inconvenience. He put me on hold again then came back and said that they couldn't award me the points but would award me with a free week of gas and electric instead :T which I will receive in a couple of top-up's time. I asked what the amount would be and he advised £10 electric and £16 gas. I use roughly £10 electric a week but atm only use about £4 gas for my cooker as I haven't switched my heating back on yet so I'm quids in (well, sort of!).

I've only had to complain to them once in 15 years and that was earlier this year when I didn't receive the dual fuel discount, so to receive compensation when I didn't have to request it, British Gas definitely get a big thumbs up from me!

(And yes, before anyone asks, I have compared my gas and electric with other companies in the last 15 years - I do it every year when all the big 6 increase their rates. I moved my electric from Eon to BG as Eon's prices were starting to get silly - if I'd have stayed with them I'd be getting through £5 more a week by now!)

Isn't it sad that negative threads about BG gets pages of replies but the one positive comment has none? I'm glad they have a happy customer on this forum at last lol :)

One thing I would add is the weeks free energy usually goes on the account after 3 months.
