Hi guys,
Not posted on here for a while and got a little issue I'm hoping you can help with.
Went to Tesco a week ago to buy an XBOX. They only have the empty boxes on show so I take it to the till and they tell me I need to pay for it and they will get it from back.
So I pay £200 for it and they go to get it. 10 minutes later they return and tell me they don't have it and they will have to refund the price. Fair enough. Mistakes happen. Wasn't too bothered, I'd just get one some other time.
She asks me to put my card in so I do and says the refund will take 2-3 working days to be credited back to my account. Next thing I know she's asking me to put my pin in to confirm the refund so I do and then I get a big "OH DEAR... SORRY I've Just charged you for it again!"
Great... I only had £350 in my account and this took me over my limit. I'd just been charged £400 for an XBOX I never even received!
Money got refunded but by then I'd already gone over my limit and I've not incurred £25 fee for going into unauthorized overdraft.
I assume Tesco should pay me the £25 for taking me over and probably a bit extra for the bloody grief but looking for advice on how to proceed?
I've got both receipts and the refund receipt. However my bank statement doesn't show the money coming out as it was only a "pending transaction" so only the "available balance" was ever altered which must have been enough to take me over

If it doesn't show the money going out how can it have caused you to go overdrawn?
In the first instance I would talk to the bank and ask hem for your fee back. If they can't do that then ask them to provide a statement showing how the charge was incurred, you can then take this to Tesco.0 -

Have you asked tesco for a refund of the £25?
This post seems like a rant rather than advice on the issue.0 -

Hi,
I thought it was strange as well. The statement never showed me going overdrawn however when I checked the "available balance" it was down as 0 so they obviously had reserved it to come out. Whether that's enough to be charged I've no idea.
I got in contact with my bank this afternoon using the online messaging functions. Should hear back tomorrow. Failing that I'll give them a call.0 -

Was just wondering how I prove to them the charges are their fault and if anyone else had had the same issue ever. Just wondering how easy it's going to be to get the money back.0 -
If the money hasn't actually shown as a debit are you sure you have been charged ?0

If your bank charge you £25 because Tesco made a mistake, then Tesco owe you £25.0
