Using BT chargecard to get cheaper Caller Display while on Sky Talk?

I only just realised that I have been getting charged for BTs caller display service and the old 1280 prefix to have your calls routed via BT has not worked for ages.
After a bit of research I've seen it mentioned that if you get a BT chargecard and have it connected to your BT bill you can make six (one minute or less UK) calls via this which may count towards your six chargeable calls per quarter. If this is the case it would be a much cheaper way of getting caller display.
Can anyone please confirm if this did work, does work or has some catch, other complication, or issue to be aware of. Thanks.

Suggested and tried and failed some time ago I'm sorry to say.
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=25855965&postcount=300Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Thanks a lot for your reply and clarification on this. BT really are taking the Michael with this one, but to avoid getting into another contract I guess I'll have to keep paying the extra £3 per month or cancel caller display. Essentially it amounts to a rather devious extra tariff on their line rental only customers and they know it.0

Same here, if its not working you can activate it.
Caller display help- To ensure that the caller display facility is switched on, dial the code *#234# (press the star button, then the hash button, then two, then three, then four, then the hash button).
If the facility is active, the message 'Caller identity' will be displayed.
If the facility is not active, dial *234# (star button, two, three, four, hash button) to activate the service.
If your service is provided over the Sky Voice and Broadband Network you will need to contact customer services to activate Caller Display on your line.
