Finalising a RW dvd ?

Options
Hi I am transferring my camcorder tapes to dvd and have been using rw dvds. I want to finalise them so that I can edit them on the computer. Can I wipe the discs and use them again?

TIA

Which camera is it? You may be able to transfer the video directly to the PC

I would have thought you do not need to finalise the discs to edit them on a computer. Are you able to load the disc in a PC, right click the drive, click open, then copy the files to a folder you create on the PC?

You can format the discs, though if you have the room on the PC and do not need the discs, I would hold on to them as they are until you have edited the files on the PC as you want them

Ah, forgot to say that I am transfering the tapes by using a dvd recorder.

Try a disc without finalising it as the PC may recognise the files, if not, you may have to unfinalise it before you can format it, after you have copied the files to the PC. Have you got the instructions for finalising the discs if you need to, or the make and model of the DVD Recorder?

What are you using to play the tapes now?

Hi, I've just tried it on the PC and it won't work. I have an instruction manual.....
I've borrowed an old camcorder to play the cassette tapes on. I will finalise them......... I was trying to save money on the dvds but I've decided it's not worth the trouble.

    Thanks

If they are DVD RW discs then you can unfinalise them and then format them to re-use
