HELP!!! No display - wrong setting

Ok. Stupid perhaps but trying to resolve a major go slow felt the quicker way was to do a re-install.
Done that - No probs.
Then I was about to install required software/drivers Etc but decded to change screen res 1st.
Then I got a message telling me that it cannot operate at that screen res but the message wont go away and I cannot get out of it.
Normal windows screen is not showing. - Re-boot still shows the same screen.
How do I get rid?
Tried changing to a later widescreen momitor and no good.
I guess somehow I need to load the graphics driver but cant see how?
Anyone?

Try rebooting the PC and start it up in Safe Mode. Click here for instructions.
Then try to change the screen resolution whilst in safe mode.0 -
Doesn't matter which mode I am in.

Has the monitor got a reset or mode button, sometimes if you either reset or scroll through the modes it helps
Or if you keep tapping F8 as it starts to load, is VGA Mode an option?0 -
Hi all.
Bit desparate so I just re-reinstalled the op-sys again.
Quicker that way. so problem resolved for now.
