    LOL - yup they could.....

Just seen your thread on how button adopted you - such a pitty you are not near Celie Hammond as vaccinations/treatments would be so much easier/cheaper....and you do not need to be on benefits...

Thanks for the link. The cat rescue place helped neuter and de-worm and flea him. Since then my income has gone up, so vet treatment is easier. We go to Companion Care Vets who seem to be the most reasonable in the area, and are very friendly, and have managed to fit Button in at very short notice a couple of times when he's been attacked by the neighbours cat. (We've now moved away from it, thank god!)

Celia Hammond do seem very cheap! We paid about £70 for his first vaccinations, that cost £20 there. It's sickening how it varies about the country.

The PDSA seem very strict - you can only be on council tax benefit, or Housing Benefit, yet I'm on other means tested benefits that don't count which is a shame, as it would have helped when we first got him.

CH is a charity that is why they are cheap - they help owners on low income but you do not need to be on benefits to use them.

I have PDSA not too far from me and at the moment I do get HB and CTB so will try to get Lucy neutered at reduced cost before rehoming her - Paddypaws offered me a lift to PDSA with Lucy (I do nto drive).

What is silly that the cost of changing microchip details (owner/address) is almost the same as inserting the chip in the first place - this is just stupid....

I know! When we got the microchip they offered us an 'advanced' package for £10 which included unlimited changing of addresses. To change an address was £15 - so we bought the £10 package for the address thing. Bleeding ridiculous.

So glad you're getting a lift and getting her done! That's brilliant. I keep trying to get my mum to relent to having Lucy or a kitten, but she's worried Button won't get on with him or her, and it will double the costs of insurance, cattery, etc. But I'd like Button to have a friend. :(

Jazabelle - not all cats like to have frinds, some are real loners, perhaps Button is one of those?

And as you know, it DOES cost a bit to keep an extra cat, especially with a kitten - the cost of vaccinations, neutering etc.....

Yes, I will try to get Lucy spayed before rehoming so that is one expense less but still - vaccinations, microchip, any emergencies....

He is the double of my Grandmas cat Sam she had from when I was born, and he used to sleep on the bit under my pram, to when I was a teenager and he used to meow until I let him in my room when I would stay over. I adored that cat.......:A
I know my spelling is shocking  It is alot better than it used to be though :rotfl:
  • hi everyone!! got a query re cat flaps please!! I have 3 cats (11, 11 and 6) who have never lived without a cat flap, until next month when i am having to move into rented for work. i'm panicking about how to cope with them. one (diabetic) is good and comes when called, but the other 2 disappear off god knows where and only come in when they feel like it. also, i work shifts so it's not like they'd learn when i'd be home. i will ask if i can put a catflap in but am expecting a no. was considering buying a cat shelter so at least they have somewhere dry and stay..anyone else gone thru this?? the thought of them being stuck outside and possibly venturing further than normal terrifies me :(

    thanks all!!

Another update. I let Button out with both my mum and I following him on Wednesday. He explored the garden, and wasn't happy at being brought in - so we let him stay outside for a bit while watching him through the window. He suddenly vanished and we rushed outside, but he'd jumped over into the front garden. So we brought him in, much to his disgust.

Yesterday I was putting some stuff out in the garden and let him come with me - until I realised he'd jumped up into the back fence, which leads to a cul-de-sac behind. He posed as if to jump down that side, but I grabbed him and took him inside. He spent the rest of the day yowling at the door. :(

I just don't know how we're going to do this. I know he's got to explore the surrounding area, but how do I know if he will come back?! How does he know this is now home?

We're miles away from the previous house, so the thought of him trying to head there is terrifying. He's scared of cars, which is good - as he came running back towards us when one went past.

So, how do we do this?
