Full Time Uni - support for After School Clubs

Hi there, my first post so apologies if this has been asked before.
My close friend has just started full time uni, she is a single mum who's child has just started full time school. On a couple of days she needs to put her child into after school clubs, but this is at a cost of £6 a session. I'm trying to find out if there is anything available that would help her out financially here?
Is there a scheme for unemployed students with children who need support of this kind?
Thanks

does she not get child tax credits?0

She needs to ask student finance for a form for the Childcare Grant. Also some unis will provide for this out of their access grants. With Sparkles! :happylove And Shiny Things!0

Make sure she is getting Parents Learning Allowance and SSG. Not sure if the Child Tax credit payments will cover after school clubs but you can apply for childcare costs through Student Finance. See if the University has a dependents grant. The financial package for full time student parents that are unemployed and single is reasonably generous and a £12-18 a week fee to enable study should be easy to budget for.
