Washing Up Bowl Stand

  • Thanks for all the replies. I knew it would be the best idea to post on here (I have also looked up old threads to get tomato soup out of little bear's martial arts suit, but that's a whole different stories).

Upturned washing up bowl is looking about right, I've done it before, but it just isn't as good. Sigh. Ideally it would be raising the bowl a good eight inches.

(...and wouldn't every lady like a good eight inches? :o:o:o Sorry, it's been a bit of a day).

I shall be looking into all the links, thanks for all the help- have to go, little bear is happening and will continue until bed time. But I really appreciate your help. WS

  • I find daylight/sun is good at removing tomato based stains, especially on white fabrics. Simply put out a wet marital art suit on washing line with the stain facing the sun, and it should disappear.

But what ever you do don't spray it with 'shout' or something similar first!!! I had a horrible bright yellow stain appear on a white duvet, that I sprayed and 'left to work' in my laundry lean-to shed which has a clear plastic roof  It does say in on the bottle not to do it - it reacts with sunlight - but I'd never spotted the warning before and I've been spraying and leaving for years and it had never happened previously. Obviously I've been lucky...I did get the mark off eventually...but it took about three boil washes and loads of oxi bleach!

  • Thanks for all the responses, especially about the soup stains. Currently soaking in Ariel stain remover, as lack of sunshine.

    And hi to all.

  • I had exactly the same problem where at 6 foot 2 my belfast sink is too low. I bought a chrome wire shelf/plate rack at £5.49 from Robert Dyers and sit the washing up bowl on that that works well and still allows the water to easily drain away

have you tried camping type places to see if they have anything suitable?

is it possible to load a photo?

final thought for the moment is to get some of those things that goes across a bath and sling that across the sink and put the bowl on top, but probably not that stable and prob means you have to lift a bowl full of water

Would it work if you put the bowl on the draining board and put the things to drain in the sink?

Haven't been able to find what you describe, but have found this instead: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kampa-Washing-Stand-Bowl-2011/dp/B0028SZSPE

Minus the wheels, this is what we used to make from sticks and string when I was camping with the Girl Guides!
  • An old thread, i know but can I reactivate it?

I am now searching for such a bowl raiser. My current one is called a RiteHite (sic) made by Pentagon Plastics, and bought from Lakeland many years ago.

I am going to contact both Lakeland and Pentagon to see if they can help.... can find nothng on t'interweb.

Would one of these work? http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/chairs-stools-benches/bathroom-stools-benches/bolmen-step-stool-white-art-60265163/

I've seen similar stools in "cheap & cheerful" hardware shops, if you don't have an Ikea locally. (I'm guessing from your username that you may not.)
