I have a plastic thingy which I put underneath my washing up bowl. It lifts the bowl about six inches or so, has a nice rim to stop the bowl slipping and as it is plastic it doesn't stain the sink. It is lovely and sturdy (or has been) as I like to wash up with a full bowl of water, and it has seen years of use. It is starting to fall to pieces.
I can't find another anywhere. The shop that I originally bought them from has closed. I can't see anything like it on ebay, Wilkinsons or Betterware, nor can I find anything useful by google.
If necessary I will use upturned plastic boxes, but it won't be quite as good and I am not sure how they are at the strength part of it. If I don't have the stand my back goes into a spasm before I finish the plates. Does anyone know where I could buy a washing up bowl stand? I would be incredibly grateful if you could let me know. Thank you.

Haven't been able to find what you describe, but have found this instead: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kampa-Washing-Stand-Bowl-2011/dp/B0028SZSPEFebruary wins: Theatre tickets0

Euronorris - thank you. I have seen those, but I was hoping to find one that would fit in my sink. I am not sure how it would fit in my kitchen, but if it will raise to a height that doesn't destroy my back I will have to consider it or something like it.
Apart from the cost, can't work out where a dishwasher could be plumbed in. :sad:Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -
I've had a look for you too, using all manner of search term combinations, but no luck. You would think that what you describe would be more common considering how many arthritis and sciatica sites there are that recommend raising the washing up bowl.
I can't quite picture your gadget as obviously I haven't seen it, but I'm wondering if it would be possible to repair the old one before the damage goes any further, perhaps by sticking the bits back together with superglue and then wrapping waterproof insulation tape around it a few times to add to the chances of it remaining rigid. Sorry I couldn't be any more help - I hope you find your solution.Freddie Starr Ate My Signature

It is a weird little thing, but the sockets of the legs which slot into the perforated base are breaking off, it is just age. I have been thinking about how to best repair, as without them the washing up bowl sways and the legs come off and a tidal wave hits the floor...
It is lovely and strong compared to eg upturned plastic cracker box. I suppose more and more people have dishwashers now. (desperately envious)Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -
Sybil - try Lakeland Limited they do these things, they are not cheap but they last and last. One thing that I have always found with Lakeland Limited is the staff are polite and helpful (Stratford Upon Avon branch) and if anything goes wrong they sort it out no quibble, no fuss. Now that's customer service!

found this, it suggest getting a second washing up and turning it upside down in order to raise the bowl.

Sybil - we have a sink which is far too low at church. What we do is use an upside down plastic bowl ( identical to the one which is filled for washing up) beneath the full bowl. This raises the whole thing up and avoids us all having backache. Don't know whether it would work for you, but is a fairly cheap option!
Haven't seen you posting for ages - nice to see you now!

I hope this link works, its a really really small camping table, if I've got the measurements right it will fit into a sink and it will raise your bowl up. I think its plastic.0 -
How far does it need to be raised. Might have to try something not originally designed for the job, like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/XBOX-360-COOLING-STAND-PAD-3-FANS-HORIZONTAL-4MM-THICK-/280659349372?pt=UK_Cooling_Devices&rvr_id=267248362264&clk_rvr_id=267248362264&MT_ID=1191&crlp=8360051073_1922721&tm_kw_mt=949553914_1188&tt_encode=raw&keyword=i280659349372%3A%3Axbox+360+cooling+stand+pad+3+fans+horizontal+4mm+thick&geo_id=21&adgroup_id=2352978033
But it doesn't seem to be very high.
Or, I was wondering if you know any kids in secondary school who might need a project to work on?
Or, can you just replace the damaged parts?February wins: Theatre tickets0
