Beaphar, Johnsons spot flea control?

Options
Hi
Our newly acquired 2 year old dog has newly acquired some fleas. After a search on here, all the discussion seems to be around Frontline or Effipro, in quite a few cases saying they no longer work.

Whereas these are around £15 to £20, I have seen similar stuff from Beaphar, Johnsons and even Bob Martin for around £5 or even less.

Are they any good? I suspect not as good as Frontline, otherwise everybody would be using them, but are they worth a try or would I just be throwing money away?

Thanks.

Don't know about stuff for dogs, but I would never touch Bob Martin stuff for cats with a bargepole, ever. It might be cheap, but it is also dangerous - nearly killed one of my cats

I wouldn't bother with bob martin etc to be honest. I get our cat's spot ons (we use profender and advocate because one of ours brings home the odd mouse) online, I have to get a prescription from the vet which is £7.50 but that is for 6 months worth at a time and the meds are so much cheaper online that i'm still saving a considerable amount, plus I think of the amount i'd spend trying to get rid of an infestation, lol!

    Noooooo! lol

Don't do it - It's false economy as all the BM, Johnsons, other random supermarket/pet shop carp is useless!

Much better to pay a few quid extra, and know that the treatment will actually work. Frontline, Effipro work fine, but you have to make sure they are applied correctly (to SKIN not fur - can be a lot harder than it sounds), an keep up with monthly treatments especially as you already have fleas. I'd get pooch some Drontal too for worms.

Also be sure to get a household spray such as Indorex too, and read the small print on the can if you have fish/birds etc
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
