Help please! Foreign cheque

Hi,
I was wondering if someone can help me.

I have just got back to the UK after living in Australia - I have been sent a cheque by my SuperAnnuation fund (pension) for $1,500AUD and was wondering what the best way to bank/ access this money without getting stung with charges and dodgy exchange rates.

I currently have accounts with First Direct and Halifax but would open an account with another bank if it would make it easier.

Can anyone help me out with this?

    And how much are the fees/will you get by cashing it with these?

    Probably not worth the hassle for such a low value cheque?
