If thats the case then they have more than a complaints letter from me to worry about! They need to get into the modern era.

If that is the case then they can easily justify the fee, but then my argument would be why should i pay for the fact theyre tight asses who wont invest in the way they run their business.

I would be surprised if LV work that way...but who knows.

  • It is a question of return on investment..... when I left that client they were in the early stages of buying a new letter system but with the total cost to buy and integrate the product looking around the £12,000,000 mark they were struggling to argue that they would get a return on investment.

That system would do the instant emailing or faxing but you need a lot of customers needing that facility to justify a £12m spend.

I've worked for two insurers and one broker. All three use legacy computer systems (i.e. green screen on a black screen running off a server somewhere). All had useless fields/things that weren't used anymore. One company even added Esq to the end of every male customer's name (although this wasn't printed)!

Although my experience of insurers is purely life-related I can honestly say with all the takeovers and mergers, you often had to move from one desk to another to do even the most simple task.

The computer for one insurer would be on one desk and the computer for another would be in another part of the office. Different software was used and different printers.
