Santander "Reward" Account (not very rewarding!!)

I was recently persuaded to update my current account to a Reward account. I have now discovered that it is not so "rewarding". The main reason I changed was because of the free travel insurance and now I have been told that it will cost me a minimum £173 due to some very basic pre existing health conditions - tried to complain but, as usual, they managed to lose me on their wonderful telephone system. I have now taken out a seperate annual insurance and it is cheaper than the "extra charge" Santander were loading. I will of course be changing my current account. Is there a bank out there which is honest, jargon free and is able to communicate clearly and efficiently?

In fact, here's the exact text from the branch decleration (bullet point two):
"You may not be covered or may have to pay extra (a supplement) for pre-existing medical conditions. (This includes conditions developed since you may have opened a Premier or Premier 50 Current Account.)"
You can simply have the account reverted back to what it was before by asking. They'll obviously try and persuade you otehrwise (that's their job afetr all), but just keep saying no thanks.
