tax credits

hi
I split up from my husband a few months ago and applied for tax credits.
I work 16 hours a week, have a 7 year old and last year 10/11 I brought home £13,400.
I phoned them up and they said I'd be entitled to around £70 a week child and working tax which is fine.
I filled the forms in and sent them off a few weeks ago and had not heard anything back from them.
Today I have checked my bank account and there is a payment of £1051 in there which I'm sure cannot be right.
I haven't received anything through the post yet to say what I'll be getting monthly so I'm not sure what this £1051 is for?
Any ideas or have they messed it up?
xx

It could easily be correct, because they backdate and may also be correcting an underpayment from last year now your final earnings are disclosed. If it was me I would wait until I get paperwork explaining the payment before spending it, as I have had problems in the past, however I think it's pretty safe to say this money is owed to you.Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0
