Sky Question

Options
Having a bit of an issue with my Sky package and wondering if anyone had any advice

We have been with Sky since August 2009 and have had a few issues with the original box we had resulting in it being replaced twice, the last time in May this year

On Sunday my box cut out again and they are saying they need to get an engineer out as the tests etc they have done haven't worked, they are saying that the options I have are to pay ( another ) £65 to have someone out or alternately or take out the warranty

When I tried to argue we only got the box replaced end of May and you would expect it to last more than 3 months he said that its a refurbished box and they only consider any form of cover from the original box in 2009 so you are out of warranty

I said I would give them a call back today, am I just better off taking out the warranty?, I hate to take extended warranties but I also dont want to be paying £65 every few months on a box that breaks down, what are the chances if I argue it of getting the engineer out for free?

call up cancellations and tell them you want to cancel as your box is broken and theres no point having a service you cant use ;)

I agree with custardy. Be warned though - it may not work, and they might call your bluff.

Perhaps try and get them to upgrade you to Sky+. When we tried to cancel, we got upgraded to a Sky+HD but without having to pay the HD supplement (although we only get around five or six of the HD channels).

It really is worth a go!
  • thanks everyone, I should have put that I am already on Sky HD on the full package at the moment, will give it a go and see what happens

In that case you are above the ARPU number - they are likely to sort you out, it may come at the expense of a new contract term though.
  • Thanks everyone, they sorted me out!! Yay!, also managed to get the contract for cheaper so double win!!
