Flexinail anyone?

Options
I have been using Sally Hanson Miracle Cure to strengthen my nails and although it works as much as any of these products do it is making my nails very dry- they look as though they have been sandblasted on the pink part and are very rough to the touch when I havent got the product on.
Was thinking of trying Nailtiques which gets good reviews on Amazon but its only another paint on product.
Do other people get this problem? Was hoping to get my nails nice enough to start having Gelish or Shellac (my friend says they are good for strengthening as well as looking nice) but think that any salon would recoil in horror at the moment! Not sure if they could be buffed down?
Anyway, never one to give up I have wondered if I would do better with one of the products that absorbs? Dont like Mavala as it damages skin and is drying but wondered if anyone had tried this - money back if not satisfied....came accross it by accident when surfing nail products
Its not cheap

Otherwise anyone found a paint on hardener that does not dry the nail?

  • Well its not a paint-on hardener, but I found that diatomaceous earth has done wonders for hardening my nails.

It sounds like soil but its actually more like talcum powder - its tiny fossilised shells. If you google it you'll find lots of info.

You can buy it from Ebay but my fave is Diatomx.co.uk

The "human" grade is the same as the "animal" grade just more finely ground. Guess which one I buy?!! :D

    yes to oil
Flexinail guy emailed me says after a few weeks nails can appear dry for a couple of weeks but that def disappears.
Has anyone else had dryness with nail hardeners that you paint on?
Any views on nailtiques which I can get on Amazon - does that dry out nails?
  • I use Nailtiques, and have done for a few years now. It's great stuff, doesn't dry out the nails at all, just makes them stronger. Give it a try :-)

Ziggazee is this the right one- thank you - its £15-99 from an amazon seller, have seen it cheaper but just the same once postage added on
Will give it a try -

  • I am not big on nails, but I tend to use natural stuff and I found that my nails get stronger with oils: I use coconut and sesame almost every day and my nails are healthy and grow well. I also use Burt's Bees cuticule Lemon Balm and not only is lovely to use, it makes them look very healthy and grow strong.

I am staying away from chemical stuff more and more as I found that it only damages my nails in the long terms - as in compare my toenails with my hand nails and the hands win... I almost never wear nail polish
  • I think the flexinails stuff is partly oils - I have tried just cuticle oils and its not enough - and without a strenghtener my nails just peel unfortunately
Anyway am going to buy the nailtiques tomorrow - I hope its the nailtiques protein 2 that Ziggazee uses as I asked her if its the one but she seems not to have been back to this thread.....
I will post how I get on with Nailtiques
Somehow have got to get gardening done tomorrow, thats the killer even with thick gloves.

You should go and speak to a salon where they do gelish or shellac. I get calgel which is similar and my nails are filed slightly to make the surface of them a bit rough so the product adheres better. Your nails will probably be fine as they are now to get started with gellish/shellac or calgel
If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!
  • Have you ever tried leighton denny products they have transformed my nails!
